Abilities to Work Mock-App

The Result

Me and my teammates (Janice Jhagroo, Rita Singh, Sarah Whitehead) created a mock app using Figma. This app was pitched to Abilities to Work as an educational app to help train employees and owners about disabilities and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards. This would help lighten the load on teaching so many clients about AODA standards. We chose to make this app as when we talked to Abilities to Work, it seemed to be the most important issue they were facing.

Assesment

To start with, we were tasked with assessing our group, our capabilities, and the possible projects we could do.

Ideation

After we assessed ourselves and figured out a direction for our project, we started to ideate.

Prototyping

After our initial ideation, we then worked on creating a mock app. This was done in Figma

Final Prototype

We showed our final prototype, with a presentation attached to Abilities to Work.

Final Reaction

Abilities to Work chose our group, out of 5, as the best pitch. The team was also rather happy with the result given the time we had. This was their comment on our project:

“This was an excellent solution and the group put a significant amount of effort into understanding the issue. The app is easy to use and engaging and would definitely appeal to our small business target. The only areas that I didn’t see being addressed were accessibility features to use the app and how it would run in different formats depending on the technology available to the users as we can’t assume that they all have access to a smartphone.”

Abilties to Work

Overall I would consider this to be a rather good project. Though UX is not my forte, the project was a good practice of process.
